Re: Should SMU sever ties with the Methodist Church?
We are not a religious school. Perkins is the smallest school at the university and also is the least productive to the whole. (Less donations, prestigege, students and alumni then any other school at SMU). It worked out ok for Duke and USC to separate from the church - we need to do the same. Let ...

That would be pretty disrespectful to all the Methodists who started and supported the school.

Re: Should SMU sever ties with the Methodist Church?
Yes. We havenΓÇÖt been a church school for generations. ItΓÇÖs silly for the Methodist church to try to hang onto this. Let us go and be officially what we have been for 50 years,
But how would you reimburse them or the donors who thought they were supporting a Methodist school? Seems like a lot ...

Re: Should SMU sever ties with the Methodist Church?
When I give to SMU, I am giving to the school. If I want to support the Theology School only, I could specify my gift. If I want to support my Church, I give directly to them. I was raised Methodist but that had very little to do with why I chose SMU and I suspect that is the case with the majority ...

Should SMU sever ties with the Methodist Church?
Also, if this were to take place, what would the new name of SMU be since it would be wrong to keep Methodist in their title as a then atheistic university?

Why was my post regarding SMU and Religion deleted?
Hopefully, I have just overlooked it and the thread wasn't actually deleted but it no longer appears to be showing here nor is it listed in my history of posts. This is very disturbing.

Re: TCU Launches $1 Billion Fundraising Campaign
in no way could they go from 8,500 to 20,000 and still have the tuition they have - there is a limited market for 45k a year in tuition and there aren't that many full boat payers at that price.

Re: TCU Launches $1 Billion Fundraising Campaign
$1 Billion is the minimum for serious university campaigns these days. UH raised over $1 billion ahead of schedule and is continuing for more.
