Very interesting and entertaining post. I do miss the days when you knew which stadium was associated with each team and/or sport. Nowadays with naming rights, even college stadiums are becoming so non-descript and indistinguishable that you have to read the first line of the story to see where the ...

Re: 108 Years of Ineptitude

Gee thanks, Stallion, I don't know how I could have made it through the weekend without that bit of information. Staying the high moral ground may be the way it SHOULD be in collegiate sports, but I think we would all acknowledge it ain't getting our bread buttered.

I usually enjoy reading your ...

Re: McClinton Sets SMU Visit.

No, practice fields are still grass. Not sure what difference it makes, but the team held almost all their practices this year in the stadium, anyway.

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny...

Isn't this the same post I read from you last month? And the month before that? And the month before that? (Repeat ad infinitum) Johnny, come up with some new schtick. You are now as predictable as Stallion in the basic content of your messages.

And by the ...

Re: New Mascot Crap

Stallion, I think there are NCAA rules that now prohibit Peruna (or other mascots) from running across the field after scores - not that it has been an issue this year, of course. The new wave seems to be someone or several someones running the length of the field with a flag or flags with the ...

Attendance at the UTEP game should be OK. That is Family Weekend, so all the parents will help inflate the figure.

Gee, WreckEm, I never intended this to turn into a forum for attacking you. I have mostly enjoyed your posts on this board and hope you will continue to visit. I simply wanted to point out that what the Mustang Band was doing wasn't new or overly incendiary. I agree with your comments about ...

Re: THE MUSTANG BAND

Gee, WreckEm, thanks for the encouragement. The fact that it only takes 70 Mustang Band members to chant loud enough to rile up 30,000 other people makes me proud. Two things, though: 1) You can hear that particular chant at any college game you wish to attend, it's nothing new; and 2) I won't ...

Re: I hate Hawaii

I don't know if you were there to see the game, but it WAS a poorly played game. The team showed a sever lack of hustle and focus in the first half, and by then the hole was so deep they couldn't get out of it. Not sure where to place the blame, but I just wanted to say that it was more than just a ...

Re: Rick Alonzo - The Worst SMU Beat Writer in Years

While I share your frustrations with the DMN and its lack of space for SMU athletics, I will say that Jack Dale is a broadcasting icon in this state. I can still hear him naarating many of the old "Southwest COnference Highlights" as they rolled the film in one of the exhibit buildings at the State ...

Re: Key to the WAC tourney....

Question for Johnny Rock: Although I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment, what makes you think teams haven't already been taking Q out of the game and forcing other players to beat them? I've seen that from our opponents all year, and maybe the Mustangs have seen it enough they have ...

Re: My turn

While I only saw Garland once this year, I do remember how much speed they had - spread over the entire team! Offense, defense, special teams, everytime they stepped onto the field it seemed like they replaced speed with speed. I don't know how many of those guys graduated, but I am all in favor of ...

Re: Ponies will beat Nevada

Well, this will be a good test. We beat them here earlier, but it will be different in Reno. I still recall them pushing us around lie we weren't there last year in the conference tournament. A win here would be a big step forward for the program.

Re: Calm down

Fine, Nacho. I fully expect you to show up again after Saturday's loss to Tulsa (which I also fully expect) just so you can say "I told you so." What does a loss Saturday prove? Nothing. We know we are not yet on Tulsa's level, so they should beat us at home. However, if the game is close, or if the ...
