Re: Should We Give It A Try?

This article on Grinnell summarizes my thinking about what we should do NOW.

This is not new - Loyola Marymount did this under
Paul Westhead many years ago. Nolen Richardson's
40 minutes of Hell was very similar when he was in his heyday at Arkansas. Heck - Billy Tubbs did this when he was at ...

Re: Eric Castro

I believe he is improving with each game. He certainly is more well-rounded than our other players, and he gives great effort.

Maybe even better - he is a fine young man and a good student.

He probably is too nice on the floor. The only weakness I see is that he is not mean enough. Last ...

I have been checking in periodically.

Just gave up a 3 - half of Navy's points have been 3's.

Score now 34-22. Timeout.

Re: So Painful!

PK - obviously I get ecstatic when we beat a team that we probably shouldn't beat, but it doesn't happen very often. I can think of many times since Dement has been here when I have been crushed such as Tulsa here when Willy Davis dribbled the ball out of bounds in the last seconds and we lost; Utah ...

Re: So Painful!

Waz -

I agree with you totally that Dement does not seem to build rapport with the players and that he does not seem to be a motivator. (I can't be adamant about these factors because I don't have any inside information.) I am only judging from appearances at the games and the few practices that ...

Re: ASU game

Ranked reasons for this loss.

1. A shorter, more aggressive team got too many offensive rebounds - Dement's comments were right on, They got 18 offensive boards - 6 more than we did.

2. We had too many turnovers again. Sloppy ball handling and soft passes.

3. Lack of 40 minutes of effort ...

Re: Extremely discouraging night at Moody.....

We just can't seem to play with a lead. We got an 11 or 12 point lead at times, and we immediately would play lazy defense. We have no killer instinct and let people back into games.

ASU played harder than we did. If you could point to any one thing that beat us - you would probably have to say ...

SMU Should Win

This is a "must" win for us. We let this one get away last year on their floor. We must guard against a letdown.

ASU is 4-5 on the year but 2-5 on the road.
The two teams they beat on the road were LaSalle and they are No. 240 (Sagarin) and St. Francis(NY)
No. 283. Both are not very good this ...

Comments on Wake Game

I agree with much of what has been said in other threads but a few observations:

1) Great improvement by Brian Miller - he can help us in WAC and should get even better on 3's with increased confidence.

2) Castro continues to grow stronger in close and was a force that kept us close in this ...

Estimated Crowd Tonight

While at the ticket office this morning, I asked what the estimate was for tonight. Between 5 and 6 thousand was the answer. I think they always over estimate so I will be happy if there are 4-5 thousand. If the students were here we might have had 6-7 thou.

I'm bringing 7 people to the game ...
