Props to TCU

They played a team with a good number of votes in the AP and Coaches polls and beat them. Heck, TCU had more votes in the Coaches poll than A&M even after we beat them. So, we beat a solid football team. And A&M is 28 points better than us?

Really I do not get the prognosticators.
Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!!

I don't know if we can win, but I do think we have a good shot to cover. I talked to a guy who was at the Clemson win over A&M two weeks ago, and he said the Aggies ran the option really well .... and we all know our success defending the option in recent years. Hopefully having a full crew of healthy LBs, and having the speed of McCray and Nnabuife there will help a lot. I also think having Haywood's quickness inside should help. The guy I talked to also said A&M's defense was good, but not extraordinary -- not like the old Wrecking Crew days. He said Clemson's offense was ranked 110th in the country last year and did "just about whatever they wanted" against A&M. Should be interesting to watch.

What's bad is it seems like we have the personnel (speed) to defend the option well. I just don't get it.

Eric Schumann, was the king of defending the option.

screw them. I guarantee you that Fat Patterson had at least one objective in his pre-game meetings with ESPN for their game: disparage SMU and insist that we suck and it was a fluke and they just didnt play with "any emotion". Mission accomplished. Herbstreit took the bait and carried the message. Bullcrap, TCU was at least plenty hyped for SMU at the beginning the second half and couldnt get the job done.

This was smart. Patterson is threatened by Bennett, and they want to keep us down badly I'm sure. TCU is playing for keeps. I hope we finally are.

I propose a steel cage coal miner's glove match between Patterson and Bennett. Hacksaw would be guest referee of course.

Apparently all of ESPN bought it. On his radio show, Dan Patrick was pitching the company line for last night's game, saying Utah had the second-longest winning streak in the nation and TCU shocked the football world by knocking off OU. Oddly enough, there was no mention of SMU beating the froggies. Of course, they were hoping each team would be 2-0 going into last night's game, because that would mean better ratings. They probably thought the froggies would be 1-1, but not the way it actually happened.

Good game, though.
