Recruiting Bonus

Does anyone know if June gets a bonus for how well the recruiting class is? If not, do other coaches have that in their contract?

Since money is the motivator for 99% of the world, that seems like it would be a good thing to have in the contract of a college coach.

I don't think so...if true, then our recruiting would be top level.

There are probably incentives for wins/championships though..

Doubt it. Recruiting is part of your job as a head coach... perhaps there are financial
incentives for winning conference championships and significant bowl games but you don't get those without quality recruits. I can't imagine giving out a bonus though for simply bringing in good players... you still have to win. Then again though I'm not one of those contributing to June's annual 2 million.

no. SMU is or was overjoyed to be an average team after 20 years in the wilderness. So if the goal is to be average and win 5 or 6 games and occasionally go to a bowl then June will aspire to such heights and recruit as such. How do you recruit guys who aspire to be great in all that they do to come to SMU to be average? You gotta make a change for the better.
