"Reggie McNeal Lite"?

Postby Pony4Life » Sun Sep 18, 2005 5:58 pm

I admit I've never seen Lester Ricard play. But from what I've read, he's bit (6-5, 222), strong and pretty fast. He didn't rush for much yardage last year (14), but that's his net after he lost a lot of yardage on sacks. He did lose a couple of good receivers from last year. And more than anything, nobody can predict the emotions and feelings surrounding this team after everything it's been through in recent weeks with Hurricane Katrina. So I don't know -- he could be terrible or he could be great. But it sounds like he has many of the same skills that McNeal had. If that's the case, we need to tackle, tackle, tackle!

Go Mustangs!

Ricard is good, but based on what I saw yesterday, I hope the McNeal comparisons are a bit of a stretch. Reggie was unbelievable. (And according to a friend who has seen him, Ricard is good, but not great.)

he definitely is not as seasoned as McNeil-only played about 6-7 games in his career but he really came on to have a big season until he was hurt last year. He doesn't run a 4.4 like McNeil but reportedly runs a 4.6 at 6-4-not bad. He doesn't have the supporting staff but he was the No. 5 rated Multi-purpose QB in the nation in high school. Good enough to get offers from Miami (Fla), Alabama before signing with LSU. Had to sit out the year before last while transfering to Tulane. I would be careful underestimating Tulane. They faced a big disadvantage against Miss St because of the distractions. Coaches always say that teams generally improve more from Week 1 to Week 2 during any period of the Year. Tulane was at a disadvantage since Miss St had already played 2 games. The most impressive stat is that Tulane held an SEC team to 10 First Downs and 225 yards Total Offense. That should get your attention considering the circumstances
