Would disagree that the players who played for him loved him. I have heard the opposite.

That said i think he did care about our University. He just hired really bad assistants.

At times, the chaos on our sidelines was more entertaining than what happening on the field during the the Bennett era.

I thought his conversation at midfield with Mike Leach was rather entertaining.

Agreed. Phil Bennett didn't achieve the success we had hoped for here, but he truly cared about SMU and you'd be hard pressed to find a former player of his who doesn't have glowing reviews of him to this day. I wish him all the best.

I don't think it would be hard at all to find some former players that don't have glowing reviews.

Forgive me if I'm missing something, but why should I care even a little about what Art Briles brings to a photo shoot? I hate Baylor and always will. I'm an SMU fan. Briles is meaningless to me, other than the fact that I hope the stars align and we figure out a way to beat him in week 1.

This is no different when some of us were going after the Kentucky fans who attacked Larry Brown and SMU and $$$ after the Justin Martin transfer.

Drives me nuts!!!

May not be illegal, but Briles was pretty trashy recruiting players on the UH roster to transfer to Baylor while still on the UH payroll. He was originally supposed to coach the UH bowl game in his final year, but he was asked to leave by the AD for his actions.

But Briles and the AD never did get along. The AD forced Briles to get rid of his high school strength and conditioning coach and hired a real S&C coach that stayed after Briles left although he followed Sumlin to aTm. That's when UH really took it to the next level. The AD also forced other changes on Briles the he didn't like but improved the team.
