The city of Waco has made plans for 19,500 game attendees, roughly 43% of the stadium capacity to park in downtown Waco. A buss shuttle will transfer fans to and from the Stadium and downtown Waco.
Waco Transit says it will use 6 to 10 buses, which seat 31 seated passengers and between 55 to 60 standing passengers, to pick up fan at Heritage Square in downtown Waco at the corner of 5th Street and Austin Avenue.
If you plan to attend the BU vs SMU game have your parking strategy planned and confirmed prior to leaving and come early.
Any residential areas in walking distance?
No.

There may be some residential parking on the north side of MLK just north of the stadium.

The neighborhood Northwest of the stadium on the opposite side of I35 is of Fair Park quality so be cautious. This is the first game of this size (there will be a High School Game Friday Night) so who knows whats going to happen.

if Rice@A&M can get 8pm on ESPN2 I think A&M@SMU can avoid the 11am slot.

Having the returning Heisman winner who is incredibly polarizing probably had a lot to do with 8pm kickoff time more than it being A&M or Rice.

You guys are getting your games confused. When Rice played at A&M LAST YEAR (with JF), it was a day game (either 11 or noon kickoff). This year's Rice-A&M game is at 8 PM, but no Heisman trophy winners are involved.

What time it ends up probably has more to do with what games ESPN has the rights to that day as it owns the AAC's home games.

Last season, ESPN used the 11am TV window for the American game of the week - which naturally led to quite a few 11am games for us.
The new American TV deal with ESPN starts this season. I would assume it will be about the same but we won't know until they start revealing their plans.

Since I too have a vested interest in getting to this game (and I don't have season tickets) I just found this out from the Waco Tribune Herald. "Park for free on campus surface parking lots and street parking before the campus is closed to traffic four hours before the game." http://www.wacotrib.com/sports/baylor/f ... 61f71.html

Downtown Waco planning free parking, ‘block party’ vibe on Baylor game day http://www.wacotrib.com/sports/baylor/b ... l?mode=jqmThe game day parking picture in Waco is changing daily and for the better. In addition to free surface parking on the Baylor Campus up to 4 hours before the game (when the campus will be closed) there will be free parking at designated downtown lots and the availability of parking at residences north of MLK Blvd.
