Did it ever occur to you that maybe 1000 recently graduated alumns with their +1s want to keep a relationship with their alma mater and buy season tickets? Not everyone thinks we are perpetually sentenced to bad sports. we are seeing the light in bball and football is improving (better recruiting already and great transfers coming in).

that's great. i hope that there's that kind of retention from the most recent graduating class, and the classes going forward - the stadium will be full in 25 more years!

i had 2 seats in that new young alumni section last year after finishing grad school (it only holds about 600 BTW). i hope someone picked them up b/c they were good seats. row 4 isle. i never sat in them once since i've got 4 in 104 and 4 in 105. i did sell them for the Tech game for $80 each so i made a cool $60 for the season off those. should have kept them and sold to aggies or frogs.

that said, i'm privy to info from the MC board meetings where budgetary issues like ticket sales & strategies are discussed. just laying it out there for you as to what is driving the majority of the demand for these new football season tickets. i think it's great that sales are up. it's more revenue for the program.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Dutch wrote:wow, you all really missed the point.

there is a long waiting list for the 1500 or so available basketball tickets. long enough that not everyone who wants one will get one. it's based on a priority points system via the Mustang Club. Mustang Club points can be earned in any number of ways. monetary donation to the MC club is one. Buying season tickets to sports is another. you get points based on how many season tickets you buy - on a per-seat basis.

you get 2 points for every $100 donated. you get 1 point for every season ticket you buy. so if you want to 'buy' your way up the list to try make sure you get a basketball season ticket, you could pick up 4 end-zone seats for $99 each. get yourself some MC points and have tickets to use, give away, scalp  , etc.

and for the record, this didn't affect me at all i've got my seats for both sports, so i'm good.

If they are spending money just to get mustang club points, then based on what you said, it would be much more efficient to just donate money rather than buy tickets. Using your numbers:
4 endzone seats at $100/ seat is 4 points for $400
Donating $400 is 8 points for the same $400
Granted, you would not have the tickets to do with what you wanted.

Well, at least, the grammar goober isn't correcting someone's spelling or something else that's a complete time waste.

redpony wrote:So now they are forcing you to buy tickets to watch a crappy product lead by a coach that doesn't want to be here just so you can see some bball games. So typical SMU and then they wonder why a substantial number of alums don't care about the school and don't support it. A better idea might have been to make a bigger contribution specifically to the bball program- at least you would feel you are getting some value for your money.

no one forced anyone to buy football tickets. where are you getting this information? too much pisco?
