It is "New Donor Day" at Marshall, I am sure the Herd will be all fired up.

However I may go just to get a" Big Green Gift."

Big Green gifts will be given to the first 150 who join the Big Green prior to the SMU game on Saturday.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - It will be "New Donor Day" for the Big Green Scholarship Foundation at the Thundering Herd's home C-USA game with SMU on Saturday, Oct. 1.

David Cantor, Executive Director of the Big Green, said Big Green gifts will be given to the first 150 people who join the Big Green prior to the 4 p.m. game. The Big Green will have a table set up where new donors can join from 2-3:30 p.m. on the outside concourse adjacent to the Westside parking lot.

Cantor said new donors making a contribution of $50 before the game will receive a Big Green gift. Those whose donation is $100 or more will receive an additional gift. Cantor also said any current member can get a gift by signing up a new member at the game. Big Green board members will be canvassing the tailgate areas to roundup new members.

Donations to the Big Green are used to provide scholarships for over 200 student athletes. Last year the Big Green annual membership drive helped provide $1.2 million of the $3 million needed annually to fully fund the scholarships.

"Our goal is to raise the $3 million annually," said Cantor. "But to do this we need to broaden our base and increase our membership." Cantor said that a minimum of $25 is needed to join the Big Green. Contributions can be made by cash, check, credit card or a monthly bank draft.
