May be out from San Fran at the end of the season... He's successful and money talks if we could pony up the cash. Thoughts?

There's an NFL coach right here in Dallas who might also be on that list

Don't think he would come nor will SMU have the luxury of time while SF decides his fate.
Every college looking for a coach would want Harbaugh.

It's not entirely inconceivable that Jason Garrett will be seeking employment in the very near future, and may be interested in staying in Dallas. After all he was never given the opportunity to be in charge with his current employer, and so no-one really knows how effective he could be. if given the chance..

Have we not learned our lesson with NFL coaches that don't have a firm record of commitment to recruiting?

Hire a young, inexpensive go-getter that wants to use us as a step up. He'll boost our profile, move on, and we'll get a more long term solution to replace him.
I don't want another Jones-type hire. Young, aggressive, and not afraid to recruit like hell.

Head coach is more the closer. You don't think Garrett would be an impressive closer?

You really want to waste 5+ years to find that out? He could be Jim Mora but he could also be another June Jones. Besides if he wanted to coach in college he could have a P5 job.

Why would San Fran rid themselves of Harbaugh?

Couldn't be worse....but do we really want someone whose players seem to exceed at domestic abuse, drunk driving, drug abuse, and generally perpetuate douchebaggery?

Why not? Worked for UT and TCU.

Harbaugh and the SF GM are barely on speaking terms. I've heard it's almost to the point where one of them has to go, and supposedly ownership sides with the GM. Harbaugh can coach but he is a major ahole. Regardless, he would never come to SMU.
