Mike Norvell looks like a good target to go after. "Mike Norvell (32) has coached at Tulsa, Pittsburgh, and Arizona State under Todd Graham. If the Mustangs aspire to hire a young coach who may ignite a new level of engagement from its fan base, Norvell could be a target. Graham has tabbed Norvell as the best offensive coordinators he’s ever been around and that’s a strong compliment considering that Gus Malzahn and Chad Morris have each coached under Graham. Arizona State won the PAC-12 South last season and the team has done remarkably well academically, which could pique the interest of SMU officials. If the Sun Devils overachieve this season, Norvell will be big reason why and could be a hot name at season’s end."
Right now, Morris, Beaty and this guy are in my top 3.

Interesting comments/questions....D is kinda harsh, but true.
Things candidates may want to remember…
A. Baylor’s rise to prominence, the new stadium at Houston, TCU’s offensive philosophical change all affect recruiting. B. American Athletic Conference opponents Memphis and Tulane are heading in the right direction. C. Nobody should be overly concerned about conference opponents UConn, USF, Tulsa, and Temple. UCF and Cincinnati are the two heavyweights in the conference. D. SMU has virtually zero social media presence. The program currently lacks the “coolness factor.†E. Is there a talented quarterback on campus? F. Is this a true major rebuilding job?

C. The way USF is recruiting they'll have everyone in the conference overly concerned next season E. One, Matt Davis F. Yes, the talent level is currently FCS caliber

If you do some research on him, you get excited fast. ASU is hoping they can hold on to him for at least another year or two. If you told me that SMU was 100% guaranteed to end up with Morris or Norvell, wow! Just wow!

Barring being in a non P5 conference at the moment, SMU could be considered a solid job, just as good as TCU. Our current problems are solvable (attendance, academic reqs, facilities) and the upside is incredible (huge sports market, best recruiting spot in the country, visibility, Dallas is better than any other program's hometown in the state). We may as well be the best G5 job out there. Stanford went from nobodies before 2007 to a CFP contender this year. It can be done with the correct coach in place and admin support. I think it can be done here and there are reasons to be optimistic from what we have seen in hoops.
