ESPN's 3-point stance2. Dallas is a city where appearances matter (seen Jerry World?), so I assume SMU is going to try to attract a marquee name to replace June Jones as the Mustangs head coach. It would make more sense if SMU looked for a guy who had succeeded in a similar situation. Take David Bailiff, who has two 10-win seasons in seven years at Rice. Yeah, Rice. Bailiff also knows the Metroplex from his three seasons on Gary Patterson's staff at TCU. He is a logical candidate, but that might mean nothing on Mockingbird Lane.
I think he makes a pretty good point, but I'm not sure about his offensive philosophy. How old is Bailiff?
Re: ESPN's 3-point stanceHe's 56, and he seems to have done some good things at Rice (a school that flat out said they are not going to emphasize athletics when the whole realignment roller coaster started). I like what I've seen from him in terms of connecting with the campus, and I think it would be interesting to see what he could do at a school that says it is committed to success. Beyond that, I haven't watched enough Rice ball lately to speak to how exciting the product is.

GO MUSTANGS!!!!
Re: ESPN's 3-point stanceNo. We will be as irrelevant as Rice.
Re: ESPN's 3-point stanceWe need someone that coaches in a P5 and can help duplicate the culture in our program.

If you're talking about June it's 6-30 (will be updated to 6-32 if Baylor and NTSU finish with winning records) http://www.cfbtrivia.com/cfbt_records.p ... =on&cres=1 They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: ESPN's 3-point stance
I think the 10-34 was referencing Baliff All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: ESPN's 3-point stance
Out of curiosity, how many G5 coaches have .500 (or better) records against BCS/P5? How many G5 coaches have .500 (or better) records against winning teams?
Re: ESPN's 3-point stance
You mean current G5 coaches only? They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: ESPN's 3-point stance
Correct. If those are the standards, I'd like to see who (if anyone) could meet them. I imagine Chris Peterson did fairly well by those measures, but he's now at UW.
Re: ESPN's 3-point stancePatterson easily did when he was non-BCS
