I can't help but share this story that I heard... I did not see it with my own eyes, so take it for what it's worth...

I heard that at one practice, two defensive players got in a fight and wouldn't let it go. As a result, Tom made them face off in that drill 10 straight times. At the end, they were tied 5-5 and still mouthing off at each other, so Mason made them run around the perimeter of the field holding hands.

I didn't see that happen, but from what I do know of Mason that wouldn't surprise me at all.

He has always wanted to run d vs o in that drill and now he finally gets to. And you can see the offensive players love it. In one of the post practice interviews this fall, one of the defensive linemen mentioned that he wished the offensive line would show a little more of a mean streak. That drill will develop a mean streak pretty damn quick. Beat or get beaten.

Gotta pump those feet. [deleted] technique, but otherwise, I love it.

Yes that did happen, and I saw it with my own eyes. It was JG and a rookie first week of fall camp a few years ago. I can't remember the kids name off the top of my head. He was LB from the Beaumont area ... I think. Shortly after that (few days), the kid left the team and transferred to Lamar. I'm not sure if he stayed there or not.

I have heard a few "D" guys make the comment also that the "OL" is a little soft, and it frustrates them in practice. When they go 11-11 team drills and they blow buy them ... as they stated, it is not helping or preparing us for the game... we need/want OL with a chip on their shoulder. They did not call out anyone by name, and they are careful not wanting to cause friction beyond normal D vs O mentality.

Side note: I read a few days ago comments about the tweat that a B-Ball player made about the team partying after UNT game. I don't know the particulars of that situation, how many, who it was, were they yelling and blowing off steam playing Madden etc. With a 100 plus guys associated with the team ... well. But, I saw Cameron Smith and Jonathan Yenga at Best Buy around 8pm Saturday after the game. They looked like walking zombies ... never did I see and talk to two more down, depressed an embarrassed young man. They acted, spoke, reflected, and gave insight like you would expect two proud and competitive individuals to do after a game like that. I expect their reaction and posture was more the norm. I asked what they were doing, Yenga said I bought an Apple TV ... I need to do something to make me feel better and keep from slitting my wrist.

A linebacker from the Beaumont area? Taylor Reed?

That drill is a staple for Tom Mason's defense. Has done it since he arrived, and his players always get really into it.

Most encouraging was that No. 33 in that drill was Daniel Gresham. There were whispers a few weeks ago that he might have had a season-ending knee or neck injury, but as I reported a few days ago (I forget which thread), he said it was a pinched nerve and he's good to go. He said he was cleared to play, and this video certainly seems to support that claim.

No not T Reed ... I may be off that this rookie LB was from the Beaumont area. Was there like a Jessie Brubaker ... white kid, hard nose kind of ... if would have been JG's junior year.
