I said several times last year that without GG we would have been 0-12 last year.

Uh, no. He didn't. He was the #1 qb prospect out of high school.

Yea. June really developed him ...

What kind of prospect was he when he left UT?

1st year, just so so. 2nd year good. Too bad he wasn't around for 3. McDermott and GG were the best we had in all 7 yrs consistently. McDermott was hurt most of the season, the team went south fast.
System was flawed b/c it takes 2-3 yrs just to understand it and work with it. Terrible for college ball.

Let's not forget how much better the offense was once it became Mummefied. I would gladly pry him out of his sarcophagus to help us out again.

Give me a break. He wasn't good enough to play at Texas. Little bit different standard than SMU. We don't even have a player on our roster who would be qualified to serve water at UT right now.

I agree. Wish we had kept mumme this year at least... I never really heard the details on why he left?

I think there are a myriad of sins hidden behind his departure. He knew what was coming.

How many key people graduated or left from last year besides GG and Holman WR?
How many OL did we lose?

Should we really be this terrible?

GG, Holman, two guards on the OL, JJ at WR. We lost two playmakers and replaced them with none at WR. On the OL, The tackles have taken a step backwards instead of forwards and we replaced the guards with a true frosh and an undersized rs frosh.

Defensively, we lost Rambo at LB and the defense was awful when he got hurt early in the season. Lost Acker at CB but I don't think the secondary is the big issue right now when we can't stop the run.

JJ does get credit in MO for developing GG. GG had the God given physical skills no doubt (good enough to play anywhere ... again MO), what GG lacked was the mental side (Big time), that was a flaw in his game that was exposed in the micro-scope called Austin. JJ did a lot to bring this kids confidence back and thus his game. JJ (certainly their were others) was the right coach at the right time for GG to bring him back. His (GG's) dad told me as much. For anyone who has ever seen a top level pitcher lose his stuff/confidence ... it is all too often the mental part of the game not necessarily mechanical.

As for Mumme ... to sweet of deal at Bellhaven. Mumme likes small school stuff, always has, I have heard him say that many times. He was offered a 10 year deal (that takes him into his 70's) for more $$ then he ever would had made at SMU and a lot of places as an assistant. They committed to building a new Multi $mm facility and moving up in classification in the very near future. They agreed to let him run his company (Air-Raid) out of his/their offices. That company makes custom Helmet wraps (you remember the Red ones last year), for the Non-Oregon's of the world that do not have Nike providing 20 diff versions to them every year and also HS. Plus, he has Connor Preston running his offense for the next two years, and putting up huge numbers.

Note: He may have also seen the writing on the all as well, that his decision easier.

Interesting. Surprised a tiny tiny school can pay him enough dough.

SMU has been stair-steppin' down in talent for 4 years now

Remember the Temple game last year. People say Temple wasn't/isn't very good. If GG hadn't played, we would have been beaten badly. Agree that without GG, we probably don't win a single game.
