Re: Expand the Student Section.I don't know about expanding the student section at The Ford. However, after seeing some of the co-eds on the TV, maybe the seat space each student attendee is allotted should be increased. That or lessen the portion sized served at the dorm's dinning halls. Hey, hey, hey...fat Alberta. Spoonyup !

Re: Expand the Student Section.can someone fill me in on "Mob points?"
Re: Expand the Student Section. If I were the AD, I'd d just go down to the student section in 4th Q of A&M blowout and give all 100 kids that were still there an automatic pass into The Mob-those kids were great and were still cheering and dancing in the hot sun all day. Screw a point system where you check out at end of 1st Q. Life doesn't have to be fair-I'd routinely pick the kids all season who stayed until the bitter end. Then the remaining 20 tickets or whatever is left can go to the kids with their First Quarter Bonus Points

Re: Expand the Student Section.
agree; those are the hardcore fans and potential future 1500-ers. Of course, they may include a player's girlfriend or two, but that's O.K. I told Mrs CP (who half heartedly watched this game with me) after the game got out of control that the camera guys would be looking for hot co-eds in the 2nd half, but unfortunately for the male viewers, most of them bailed by halftime.
Re: Expand the Student Section.Baylor and TCU have student sections between the 20's behind the opponents bench.
Our student section is in the corner looking directly into the afternoon sun, perhaps the worst seats in the stadium. Maybe we should stick the opponents there? And put the students in the 3-4 sections DIRECTLY behind the opponents' bench. Just scattershooting. But I always see large packs of students work their way to the west stands and sit in seats where they are not blinded. I know that's what i would have done. Re: Expand the Student Section.
For whats it worth they did give an extra 20 points to anyone still there in 4th quarter (a football game is worth 30). But they did it through the location thing and we have already talked about the coverage so it didn't work super well. They said they came and wrote down kids ID's numbers because the coverage wasn't working but I didn't see that. I emailed them today and got a quick response and they gave me my 20 points. I was impressed.
Re: Expand the Student Section.Great-check off another one for an AD that's doing a bunch of small things to improve the product

Good to know. Thanks. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Expand the Student Section.Yeah it's not like I was going to quit on SMU athletics if I didnt get my bonus points for staying, but I was kind of ticked that they announced they gave out bonus points and I didn't get any. I was impressed they gave me my points on the back end, I at least felt a little rewarded for sitting in the heat all day. It is a great idea to reward those kids, because your right those are your fans that will buy tickets right after graduation and we need and want those kids in moody
Re: Expand the Student Section.Until the crowd in general picks up, it may be worth the effort to see what happens if we move the student section just across the end zone to the SMU side ... just flip the view and see if that helps at all. Our student section from I can see is not you norm ... that is to say we don't have very many wearing SMU garb and .... well looking like they are going to and want to go a football game. They look like a Sunday Brunch crowd. Not knocking them ... they look sharp, and the young ladies look beautiful. But as has been mentioned, perfect hair, make-up and sun dresses do not go well with a hot sun beating you in your face. Where the ladies goes, so do the guys for the most part. Might be worth a shot.
Re: Expand the Student Section.problem is that TV cameras face east so when AAC season starts there will be 1,132 fans on East side for the entire nation to laugh at

Re: Expand the Student Section.
100% agree with this, if there is room (which im not sure there is). SMU students are generally very dressed up for game day and not in comfy clothes to watch games. The students still did a white out because we like dressing up, but could care less what it will look like in the stadium. The girls will not sit in the hot sun and ruin their perfect outfit and so the guys follow. But thats a minor issue and I dont think there is enough room, and I dont think the season ticket holders would want us near them, and the empty side would look even worse.
Re: Expand the Student Section.
Yeah, but screw it, it is incredibly unfair to put them in the hot sun for every game that begins at 11 am or mid afternoon. I would gladly give up my seats in 108 for the students. Let the TV guys figure it out. If we have 12,000-16,000 fans on one side of the field then they will find a way to show it. Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: Expand the Student Section.Expanding the student section sounds great if you have a product where the students will want to go.
I honestly don't know how you can blame students for not going to get your [deleted] kicked week in and week out. Basketball shows that if you put a top quality product the students will show.
