A&M Game

Postby Blunt Pony » Thu Oct 06, 2005 2:22 pm

Seems as though people either want to throw out the A&M Game or use it as an example when proving their respective points. What you cannot ignore is the fact that we were beat 66-8 and Texas State as well as Baylor had legitimate chances in the the 4th quarter to beat A&M at Kyle. There is no way to spin that. Good luck with all the silver lining, but I call that game for what it was, an [deleted] kicking by a team that has not shown much to this point.

yea, and ironically we hung with Baylor and felt we should have won the game. This team has the propensity to get blown out if it doesnt bring its game. Other times we are respectable. Strange deal.

losing is so much a part of the SMU football culture that I firmly believe it gets into our guys heads. All it takes is a few early mistakes and some of the guys appear to cash it in. Even when we are in a position to win, as was the case at Marshall, you get the sense these guys are waiting for something bad to happen and rather than playing determined to win, it's like they hope they don't blow it...again.

The TCU game was unusual. It was especially unusual that the guys didn't fold after TCU returned the 2nd half kick for a TD

I do believe this is the most talented team Bennett has had at SMU. It's disappointing to see all the blunders that aren't necessarily caused by our being physically overmatched. This team is baffling. Will they compete or get blown out at UAB? I've come to expect the latter, but really don't know what to make of this bunch.
