We actually Won!

What a win!!! Unbelievable!!!

It was a typical SMU game. We get ahead, looks like we might win the game. Inexplicably we don't go for 2 when we are up by 5. Doesn't look like it matters because UAB scores to make it 27-22 with 30 seconds to go and we have only 1 timeout. We get the ball back on our own 20 with 23 seconds left and no timeouts remaining. If we had made the 2 we could have gone into UAB territory, made a field goal and tied the game. Instead we drive to their 30 and Romo hits Chase in the endzone for the winning TD. Somebody was watching over us for once.

It sounded like any of a million other SMU games. We somehow blow a lead , have a coaching blunder and lose the game. Today it was different. We actually won. We won the game. I can't explain it. We don't do this. The last time we won a game with no time left on the clock was 1989.

I am very happy for the coaches, players and fans. We have all gone through so much heartache. It will be nice to wake up tomorrow and look forward to reading the sports page.

Bennett you are a lucky man. You were going to be the goat. Bless your heart, the team saved you.

Hopefully we can come out strong against EC and get something going.

Again a great win!. Congrats to the Ponies who never gave up and played their hearts out.

I think he may have but the radio guys said it was against UConn in '89. I know it was very close to end. That UNM game BTW is one of my all-time favorites--definitely in the top 5 for me for personal reasons.
