What is it about Temple's model that keeps them from winning. They are a state school in an urban area. Anyone know what there problem is?

1) Their schedule is so tough. Like SMU at times, we'll schedule very hard opponents to get exposure and media coverage, even if we don't have competative teams. So when you get crushed by the big boys without mercy it's hard to etch a win against a similair calibur team because momentum is not on your side.

2) Losing is contagious. Top recruits don't want to play on losing programs, attendance goes down, existing potential players leave, alumni get angry, teams get disheartened and lose some more.

3) They got booted out of the Big East, so they get no conference recognition and STILL have a bear of a schedule. So now any spotlight they have has been absent since 2001.

4) They're ESPN Bottom 10 darlings.

Whenever you think SMU has it bad, trust me, this is an example of how things could be much worse...

I was wondering if they have the same kind of restrictions we have when it comes to recruiting players. Can they get minimum qualifiers into school? How about jucos? D-1 transfers? Any problem there? Do they have majors that appeal to athletes? Do they have higher standards than their peers? Their basketball team has an excellent track record, although I think recently they haven't done as well. Why has it been easier for them?

TRUE, BUT MAINLY THEY ARE IN A BIG CITY. BIG CITY RECRUITS IN NE PLAY BASKETBALL.

That does NOT look like an easy schedule, espeically for a team of Temple's calibur (or lack of). Yes, and they chose these teams to play them. So no I am not wrong, instead of scheduling a few cupcakes in there, they play some ranked teams (and former ranked teams) there. So it only proves my point.

Unless you live in NE, that sounds like a pretty gross generalization to me. I'm sure you can pull out the rosters for any D 1 program and finds football recruits from urban areas in the NE. Oh by the way, Boston College is #14.
