Go back and watch that UNT game. We were physically WHIPPED by a team that will probably finish in the bottom third of CUSA. June Jones deserves a ton of the blame for the coaching and scheme but you know what? UNT manhandled our kids. Now if you're saying a new coach can come in here and turn this thing around to winning a handful of games next year without massive roster turnover then I say lock him up to a lifetime contract b/c that man is a miracle worker.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Yeah, I didn't expect a whole lot this year. But I have to admit I've been a bit shocked at the wholesale collapse in all phases of the game. Seems to me there is enough talent to at least win a few of these games, but we really haven't even threatened to win a single game so far.

Re. the transition, at least the new coach will have a quality (or at least very athletic) dual-threat QB (Davis), a pretty well-regarded tight end (Gaines), and a couple of backs (Gresham, if healthy and Nlemichi, if he continues to improve) to work with next year. Do we have a single legit wide receiver though? I can't think of one. And the O-line. . . oh the O-line. . .

And of course our defense is an unmitigated disaster this year. I don't see much to work with there at all next season, unless we bring in like half a dozen jucos.

I'll go out on a limb and say we beat UNT next year and chalk this year up as a June Jones anomaly. :?

My massive roster turnover was outlined above with the hopeful addition of a stud OL transfer/juco/recruit.

I think Darius Joseph has showed he can play, and I bet Sutton starts as our bigger target outside. From his very limited time he showed flashes and a definite physical presence.

Agreed, June & Co. have been an ever worsening disaster in all aspects, not just recruiting.

So if June retires last year, and we hired Morris or Herman, would this have been a .500 team with Davis at the helm of their style of dual-threat offense? With Nlemchi & Gresham in the backfield, Gaines at TE/Hback, Sutton in the mix out wide?

Huge hypothetical I know :D

Without a historically bad offense and with a real special teams coach, the defense might not have been on the field 75% of the time.

Oh, ok. For some reason I thought Joseph was gone after this season.
