One thing I like about CM is he is from a small Texas town, like me. My town never made it to 500 population.
I saw Gunter beat his Edgewood this year.

(I go to many different high school games like Celeste at Blue Ridge as well as big school's games like Plano and Allen.)

I've said on another thread that I have alwas like Clemson and its fans, but let's see how "friendly" they are after the dust settles from ALL coaching hires.

Disappointed in losing any of the staff, much less the best OC Clemson has seen in years? Most definitely but I can't blame Chad and whoever may go with or SMU. They have to do what's best for them, their families, and the University. I was in a similar situation a few months ago although I left a good job to no job and going back to school in the spring at 43. Chad's made his mark at Clemson and we wish him all the best. Actually got some honest concern for where he's is headed. He's got a hard row to hoe after the last 27 years at SMU but it's taking him home with a plethora of talent in Texas. He's made a name for himself, got the contacts, and an excellent recruiter. If SMU is going to make a comeback I hope Chad is the man to do it or at least set up for a bright future.

If there's any disdain after it's settled in Clemson, it won't be towards SMU for "poaching our OC" and possibly a few others. It'll be towards the Clemson admin for not maintaining the standard set by the current staff. It'll all work out in the end.

As for the bowl situation, looks like we're headed the the Russell Athletic Bowl against Oklahoma. FSU in the playoff if they beat GT, GT to the Orange since they'll most likely be ranked higher than Clemson even after a loss inn the ACC Championship.

SMU fans will be 100% behind Clemson if y'all are up against OU.

I had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time around CM a few years back. I took a few buddies to the Maters (Fridays round) and one of them was/is Hugh Sandifer (HC and AD for Abilene Wylie) … another highly qualified Texas HS HC that could make the leap to the next level (Art/Baylor-UH have tied). Anyway, we left that Sat. But, the guys wanted to know if I knew how to get to Clemson. We flew in and out of Greenville/Spart … my in-laws have a family place in Laurens SC. I do, and we did. As luck would have it that was Clemson’s spring game. Hugh (being the HC that he is), said stick we me guys, I’ll get us in. He told the gate who he was and that he was there to see not Chad, but the DC (can’t recall his name). He is not there now, but was the HC at Baylor for a couple of years … years ago. What a blast, we got the grand tour of everything. They had recently completed a 30-40 mil renovation of their end zone area (new strength/conditioning … impressive, offices, looker rooms, suites etc.). We also spent about 20mins with Chad in his office … fun to hear the old HS coaches reminisce. You could not walk away without being impressed with Chad. Knowledge, energy, passion … the man loves what he does. I said to “H”, nice guy with a lot of energy … is he a good guy and a good coach. “H” said H--- yes, and he will be a great HC one day.

Now, for an ex Tarheel who played against Clemson, all that Orange was a little [deleted] me … but I enjoyed it. Good get for SMU, and the staff that will eventually follow.

It's a program with a list of no-no words that it looks for. There are a number of words that get deleted that makes you wonder who put the list together.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
