Garrett Gilbert eventually part of new staff?

Postby SmooBoy » Mon Dec 01, 2014 2:59 pm

I realize he is pursuing an NFL career, and trying to stick with a team, but his connections with Coach Morris lead me to think he may have a coordinator future here, once his NFL dreams are exhausted.

Nothing against GG, but I really hope not. He's got two years of tikizombie's 1980's offense rattling around in his head. Let's just pretend like the whole June Jones cargo cult never happened.

I have no problem if GG wants to come back personally.

Always liked him. Plus him and Morris were excellent together at LT. Would be a good guy to learn things from.

Big fan of Gilbert. The guy definitely has a good head on his shoulders and should he desire it would probably make a great addition to the staff. He seems like an arduous student of the game.

Would love to have GG. great leader on and off the field and u can tell he knows football. He's also experienced with CM's offense from his high school days

GG single handedly won us 5 games with June's stupid offense. I'd love to have a former high school legend and Mustang on the staff.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Who cares about that june jones stuff-he ran Morris' offense better than any one in history. Never lost a game. If Gilbert wants a career in coaching-make him a graduate assistant or something and groom him for the future-10-15 years of grooming and a guy like Gilbert could be Head Coach

Are you dense? I was saying I would gladly welcome GG back on The Hilltop. The fact that he won 5 games by himself last season running the dumbest offense in the nation is a testament to his ability. He also had a great career working with Morris. If he wants back into the college game as a coach then hell yes I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Pretty sure Stallion was responding to BigT3x.

I think he'd be good at teaching a run-first QB (Davis-esque) some nuances of pocket passing, plus he had somewhat of a vision for the run. Despite how we all feel about June, him and Mumme upped GG's quaterbacking. Hopefully for him (and us) he can get more NFL experience first

If he is smart, he'll get a real job.
