yes i am posting things at 2am on saturday night.. no i am not a tool and have no life.. I run the overnight board at the ticket so i have a lot of time to kill and one way is to research our football team.

here is an outlook of our teams age:
freshman=52
sophmore=24
junior=24
senior=16

yes we said it last year that our team is young but they really are. .and the great thing is is that all but one of our freshman were redshirted and are getting bigger and stronger.. right now our entire line i believe is coming back .. there is alot to be positive about..
i could write more but i am getting tired and still have the rest of the night to stay awake...

can't wait till homecoming.. gonna be great

we've won 2 games. If the freshman class had any one that could help they should be on the field. You want to know what I think-I think the freshman class is in for a long career at SMU. This thing is headed downhill.

The red shirt players

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Oct 23, 2005 8:26 am

The point aobut having red shirt freshman now in the program is an indication that SMU is getting some depth on its team. That is an improvement. As I keep posting, if PB brings a quality JUCO QB transfer or has a star QB in reserve, the team might win 5 games or more next year. This year is just more of the same.

I would bet that almost every team in the country has more FR than any other class. More walk-ons will at least give it a one year effort. Maybe some of those guys will even hang around and earn scholarships before they are done.

There is no question but that the future depends on improved QB play. SMU is not going to start winning until we can find someone to lead an offense to more than 10-13 pts per game. The OL is maturing and building some depth and I like the stable of RBs we have, but we need a passing game that can stretch the defense better than what we have today. Gotta hope Givens and Henderson see more time. Guys who can break a big play.

And yes, JUCO help is needed at LB and possibly in the secondary next year. I only want a JUCO QB is he's a really highly sought after guy, and we haven't been in the running for one of those. Next year will be time for Phillips or Willis to step up. The soft early schedule might be a great way to break a new guy in.

I agree that a JUCO QB (and a couple of good JUCO linebackers) might make this team better next year. We'll have veteran players at most positions, and better depth than at any time since the 1980s. Good stuff, tmustangp.

It seems we have been hoping for depth to develop for years.
