If Tulane cancels footballPotential transfers is one thing but what about the coaches? Including our old DC. Maybe a good time to get both.
![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
I don't believe Bennett would ever throw his buddy Gush under the bus in favor of bringing back perhaps one of the best DCs this school has ever had...even if it meant saving his job.
This whole Tulane story is disturbing, to say the least.
Eric was good against the run, but Tulane has been giving up lots of points this year. The fewest points Tulane has given up is 10, against SMU.
Re: If Tulane cancels footballI don't know, guys -- I'm all about doing whatever is possible to help the Ponies win, but this seems almost ghoulish, hovering over the Tulane team, waiting for survivors. Kind of makes us seem like a bunch of vultures, don't you think? I hope nothing but the best for Tulane and its athletics department. Here's hoping both survive and prosper.
I see this as a friendly act. We provided quick and generous support for our C-USA brothers.
If the bad news hits and Tulane does not re-build in time.... I am sure that we would open our door and hopefully have some scholorships available for the right players and even the right coach. Sad to see bad things happen but we can still help. And so if it helps SMU too, all the better. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Considering the number of coaches that were on SMU's campus with 24 hours of the death penalty announcement, I wouldn't feel bad about it one bit.
I hope Tulane doesn't stop playing football for a ton of reasons. Given that the Saints and the Hornets may be leaving N.O., they would have a chance to become the defacto New Orleans team. I would guess that their attendance might just go up if they stay the course. Also, if they were to try and schedule just one game this fall in New Orleans (even in the middle of a park with portable bleachers), that would go a long way to helping the City get itself back on track and make Tulane look pretty good. Given that a number of Tulane players have also had SMU hospitality, I am sure that will be remembered if things go the other way.
There is a post over on CUSA bbs that all of the talk of Tulane dropping athletics/ university closing is just a rumor and that the university is solvent. There was a link to supposed proof but I didn't have time to stop, follow the link and read the article.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
The overstatement of the week came from Bob Davie on the LSU broadcast last weekend. He pronounced that no team had suffered like LSU in the wake of this year's hurricanes. I expect the folks at tulane might take exception to that assessment.
Long live Thomas Sowell!
