The DMN is not an SMU-sponsored newsletter, and therefore is not expected to cover the only Div I-A school in Dallas only when it wins. The DMN claims to be a newspaper, and therefore should be covering SMU, win or lose. If it runs negative or positive stories, that is the decision of the editors, and that's for another discussion. But to suggest that winning dictates whether it's news or not is inane. That's like saying reporters only should show up at the White House if the president ends all military conflicts around the world or solves world hunger. If all he does is show up and work and do his job -- well or not so well -- then he's not news?

You've defender some of your myriad negative posts in the past by saying you are a fan, and you therefore have the right to be angry. How the hell do you spin this? This is the most classless thing you've ever written here. Like Stallion, you often make some good points, and some of the attacks on your (and his) posts (including, to be fair, criticisms I've made) are unfounded, but this post is shameful. You're better than this.

This is a silly discussion. What is considered "news" depends on how many people care about the subject. The vast majority of Dallas do not care about SMU, so general info about SMU football and/or losing is not "news" to them. NOBODY CARES. Now if SMU beats a good team, or has a winning season, or something else unusual, people might find it interesting, and worthy of being news.

SMU is actually in University Park, not Dallas. Dallas does not have a Div. 1-A school in its city limits.

Okaaay, how about Dallas County? Actually, since the park cities are completely surrounded by the City of Dallas, technically SMU is within Dallas city limits. :D Also, if you send a letter to anyone in the park cities, their address is Dallas, Texas 75205.
