with the exception of Gilbert, he was the best QB JJ had at SMU. Kicking him to the curb was a sign of genius. Nobody but June would have thought of using that strategy.

Nothing screams genius like forcing a lightly recruited true freshman to start on day one, in a system that admittedly takes more than a year to learn, surrounded by very little talent. Bold, man.

Looking back, there were so many red flags that we all overlooked out of desperation. It feels different this time...hope that holds.

Based on what I've seen this spring if we make a bowl game then Chad Morris should win NCAA Coach of the Year. I love where we are headed but we all need to be patient. This OL is going to be in transition and our secondary is an absolute mess. We will improve as the year progresses but I just can't imagine us being able to pull out a 6 plus win season.
Back off Warchild seriously.

LB had a losing record his first year.
It takes time to get things set up the way you want.
CM has us going in the right direction, but I'd be thrilled if we won 3 games. There's a lot of work to do b/c June left this thing in the ditch.

he didn't want Bennett via Willis getting any credit for bringing a kid in who helped June win 5, maybe 6 games that first season. June selfishly wanted ALL the credit for his mastermind turnaround.

side note - it's nice to be able to finally be critical of JJ on here.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

More than just turning things around on the field will be the effort to put 25k + butts in seats per game. Gotta get the on field wins and championships first. My concern is that Morris and staff have no idea of the real problem. However, just like in basketball, the real problem is fixed with winning, exciting teams, top 25 ranking and championships. This will take more than 3 seasons, a Hawaii Bowl win and 7 wins against no name teams. Will this staff have the #tempo to get it done to fix the real problem? Off to good start but could take 5 years or more of big time winning.

I could look it up I guess but maybe someone will just answer the question. As it became apparent that a change was coming to SMU football, was Gosselin's position one of "nothing can help," "JJ is still the savior," or "let's start over ASAP," or what?
