Agreed. I was at that game. Was the first time visiting Annapolis. After enjoying things at the
Mustang Tailgate before the game, we decided to branch out and walk around for a while. All the fans were friendly. Even got to meet the very proud father of a female cadet. She was going to be leading the march into the stadium that day. Despite the final score, we very much enjoyed the trip.

I was at that game, as well. We had the game in the bag, but let them back in the game and lost the momentum.

BTW, the Academy Grounds are spectacular, as is the March On before the game. Well worth being in their stadium early. If there is a Dress Parade that day, go see it as well. You will be proud of them and their service.

Of course we do share one thing in common. The most beloved athlete in Navy and Dallas history is Roger Staubach, whom I suspect will be in attendance (maybe the 1963 SMU team will show up as well).

Rumor has it we will be wearing our Blue Jerseys to honor the Midshipmen.

it's because they run that damn triple-option offense, which is really the only thing a service academy can pull off b/c no one else sees it, and it doesn't require high level athletes (in terms of skill/ability) at skill positions - namely receiver and QB. it's hard to prepare for b/c your scout team basically has to learn an entirely new offense for only one week of the year. at least since they're in our division we will be better prepared knowing we will play them every season (for the foreseeable future that is 8) )

Well it looks like we will be learning more about the Boulevard for our trip! Thanks for everyone's input and truly excited to join the AAC. I think SMU will improve considerably under Morris over the next few years and I know I look forward to seeing what he can do as a HC.

In regards to your comment about the TO not requiring "high level athletes at skill positions," I think I would have to disagree. A different skill-set? Yes. But implying that it requires a lower level of skill isn't entirely fair. The unique upside to being arguably the best (GT also deserves a mention) TO team in the nation, is that the staff can recruit players that are familiar with that system in high school. Most TO HS players do not get the recruitment recognition (stars) because they do not fit the typical FBS or NFL style offense.

Trust me, these players are still very skilled "at skill positions."

I knew that wasn't going to come off how I meant it. i was making gross generalizations that it takes a very special PERSON to go to a service academy in the first place. High Character, smart, honorable, and yes very athletic. I meant to imply that 4 star wide receivers who have been pushed through school b/c their only measurable talent is being really fast and great at wide receiver aren't going to even consider going to navy (or any of the academies) b/c their one goal in life is professional football, and if that doesn't pan out, they'll drive a bus. i know as well as anyone that navy fields very high level athletes, just not stereotypical QB's, WR's, DBs, etc.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Navyfans4ps. Described perfectly my experiences with Navy. I was a season ticket hold for the four years my son went there and returned as a visiting fan when my other sibling went to a rival school and have seen the expereince from both sides. I read some of the comments of people having negative experiences and was more than shocked. If you told me the stadium was at times very quiet, yup seen that, the fans seem preoccupied with other things in their life besides the football game going on in front of them, yup seen that, but never saw an opposing fan treated with disrespect, never. We brought fans wearing the opposing teams jerseys to the games often including our other sibling and at the very worse experienced some good natured ribbing. But I think the key is to spend you time either the night before or the morning of the game in downtown annapolis, see the sights and tour USNA that will make for a fun time and great experience. If you stay in a hotel in DC or even on the highway and only go to the game and drive back to DC. you wasted your time and missed out on a great time and great experience. You can feel comfortable wearing your teams jerseys walking around the town or in the stadium and unlike some other places you will not have young adults slurring profanities at you before or after the game. Go and enjoy the game and the experience. If you are looking for 50 thousand screaming people and the typical college tailgate you will not find it in Annapolis

Definitely...I am trying out some new gear on The Boulevard so it will be great to have your crew stop by my spot next Friday! My Father-in-Law was a star athlete at Blair HS in Silver Spring and at Maryland as a 3 sport letter winner. Looking forward to meeting you!
