Jerad Romo: Many people, me included, bitched and moaned about wanting to see a QB for the future in these last few games, but you stayed in there and played your [deleted] off. More importantly, you led this team to three wins in a row (two as big underdogs) and said all the right things in the DMN. IMO, for the first time in over ten years we can see a light at the end of the tunnel and you should be proud, because you were a big part in getting us here.

DeMyron Martin: You showed flashes of great things. Come back next year and build on this year’s successes.

Defense: You improved every week and kept this team in every game (I’ve erased A&M from my memory).

Chris McMurtray: MVP of the team. Hope to see you playing on Sundays.

Seniors: For sticking around and playing hard to the end with very little public support. Like I said about Romo, you’ve got a lot to be proud of.

Coach Bennett: You got this team to believe and never give up with your job on the line. Congrats.
Now get us a few playmakers on offense and let’s go bowling next season.

yep, Romo deserves credit. The quote I like best in the paper today was when he referred to next year and he wont even be playing. We need more program guys like that. I still dont agree with the decision to go with a senior until the bitter end under the circumstances, but it never had anything personal to do with Romo. He is a tough competitor. Bennett was proven right though and Romo was vindicated because the 5-6 record and quality wins are probably more important to the program overall than getting some game snaps for Phillips. I never expected us to beat Houston. I thought we had a chance at home against Utep, but not much of one. Congrats to all the seniors especially DD Lee, Nabufie, Harper and Ro Humphrey.

I'll give one to D.D. Lee and Rico Harris. Enduring the pain over their 6 years is hard enough to imagine, but they both faught injuries and exemplefied what is good about todays college athletes and hopefully the type of people Phil Bennett can keep coming to SMU.

D.D.'s interception on the last drive was the perfect way for one of the most well-liked and respected players in recent history to go out.

Romo showed he was capable and I wish PB would have stuck with him the entire season instead of the flip flop. He gave SMU the best chance to win. Thanks Jared.

Couldn't agree more. D.D. is a very tough guy, and a very likable guy. That INT was a very athletic play by a very courageous Mustang who could have hung 'em up after his gruesome injury last year. Many thanks to D.D. and all the seniors.

And to the coaches. Coach Bennett isn't the only one whose seat was a little warm about a month ago. He and his staff hung in there, and continued to make this team better each week. Congratulations to one and all.
