Very small-minded that this is our best chance we might ever have to win the NCAA tournament.
But tell me, from your read of the infractions committee decision and your understanding of the new infractions penalty structure, what is the basis for an appeal? What do you think they can get overturned and why?

Because you are butthurt about the ncaa ruling isn't really a valid reason to invest the money and resources into a losing battle.

If SMU had moved on and stopped fighting the NCAA in 1984 we had a better chance of making the Big 12 than Baylor, UH, TCU and Rice. This idea of fighting the NCAA forever is like Don Quixote* fighting windmills . After each successive probation after 1982 our program was getting weaker and weaker because recruiting dried up. There was a 5 year shadow where guys like Brian Bosworth and Tim Brown backed off their SMU interest. By 1986 the program was on its way to going down anyway. I'm willing to appeal (not sue) but this continual shadow over the program will have negative affect on the lifeblood of the program-recruiting.

It would be very small minded not to acknowledge that this very well could be our best chance in 30 years. It might be our only chance, it did not say it would be. But it very well might be. We are loaded with this team now. And since we are on probation and if we do something with a 5 year window we can be put on the DP what recruit would want to come into that situation. It would be somewhat stupid to think we can just load up with players like we have this year automatically. LB does not have a good name right now and it will hurt recruiting. It will be tough going recruiting wise anyway you put it. I think we should appeal.

last chance in 30 years-come on-that's ridiculous. This ain't 1989 and there are no institutional barriers to a competitive program at least on the AAC level. In fact, the NCAA landscape with higher academic requirements puts SMU on a level field. If that really is what you think then you just convinced me we need to move on now

Best chance in the last 30 years to win the entire NCAA tournament. Not just talking about being competitive in the AAC.

After these last sanctions the NCAA imposed on SMU, I would say that the NCAA is an institutional barrier in an of its self for SMU. How can you perceive it any other way. Heck even back in the late 70's and early 80's they were as a result of their selective enforcement. We all know that cheating was rampant throughout the SWC but only SMU was consistently nailed. Now they are just resuming the abuse through draconion sanctions.
