according to my Clemson sources, the Chad Morris to SMU deal was all but a "done deal" a year ahead of the time it was actually announced. I was told Chad wanted to wait for his daughter to graduate H.S. and when I saw how JJ just kind of quit going into his final season, I started to believe my sources may have been right and JJ knew he was going to be shown the door. If that is true, I give Hart a lot of credit for following through and getting "his guy"

JJ quit long before the final season, but yes, JJ did know that he was going to be shown the door

Chad Morris was the one name on the list. Had JJ gone to ASU, we were going to talk to Chad Morris. Had JJ quit or been fired at any time, Chad Morris was the first name on the list. When it looked like JJ was gone, I was told that if JJ got on a plane for Arizona State, Chad Morris would be on a plane on Monday. At the bizarro overhead projector coaches luncheon, you heard "F JJ, let's get Chad Morris. "

I don't think HCCM is S Carolina's pick at this point with $3MM plus. Even A&M offered Sumlin $2MM to start and then bumped him up very quickly, thanks to Johnny Football. Sumlin had an excellent staff. Hopefully the [deleted] want someone with more HC experience who also knows the area. Hopefully the current interim coach turns things around.

Herman has a LOT of players coming back next year and some solid recruits. Momentum is building and ride a lot of publicity to a bigger job than the [deleted], if he's that good.

Better get used to it. Every school that becomes available will make him a target. This is just the beginning. Once a big Texas school has an open position, he is as good as gone

Just like Patterson and Briles left Baylor and TCU when they got good? And TCU was good way before they got into the Big 12 and he still didn't leave. When/if we get good, we just need to do whatever it takes to keep him. I don't think Morris will leave 100% guaranteed.

Patterson is an outlier, the list of guys that left is much longer.

Those guys that left, were they coaching private schools in Texas with an unlimited supply of money from boosters to sign "extensions" to keep them?

Morris will never stay at a school that has no chance to be in a P5. That's just the way it is.

So a shrug and a "maybe" generates an article. Anything for page hits I guess.
