Captains: Deon Green (#98 DT), Taylor Lasecki (#52, C), Shakiel Randolph (#28, S), Keyfer Roberts (#39, FB)

Before his second quarter interception, Matt Davis had gone an SMU-record 171 attempts without a pick. (Previous interception was his last attempt vs. Baylor 9/4/15)

Justin Lawler had a blocked FG, SMU’s first since Derek Longoria vs. TCU 9/27/14.

SMU was 1-2 on red zone scoring, now 22-26 for the season. The Mustangs had scored on 21 straight red zone trips before the final possession of the game. (last 3 on 3-5 vs. UNT, 7-7 at TCU, 4-4 vs. JMU, 2-2 vs. ECU, 4-4 at Houston, first 1 tonight 1-2)

SMU defense had a season high 11 TFLs
- 3 by Zach Wood (career high)
- 2 each by Andrew McCleneghen (career high) and Kyran Mitchell (career high)
- 1 each by Jackson Mitchell and Darrion Richardson
- 0.5 each for Jonathan Yenga, Shakiel Randolph, Robert Seals, Deon Green

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Darrel Colbert, Jr. (#7, QB) -
- Was 11-13-120 passing with 1 TD, all in the fourth quarter
- First career passing TD, a 37-yard pass to Courtland Sutton

William Jeanlys (#18, DB) - Had his first career forced fumble and 2 tackles

Xavier Jones (#10, RB) - 14-51 rushing with 1 TD, now has 5 TDs for the season (Also 2-15 receiving)

Andrew McCleneghen (#95, DE) - Career-high 7 tackles (was 5), including a career-best 2 TFLs and a sack

Jackson Mitchell (#44, LB) - Had a forced fumble and recovery in the third quarter (2nd FF of career, 1st FR of career)

Deion Sanders, Jr. (#21, KR/DB)
- Was 3-61 on kickoff returns
- Now has 1212 kickoff return yards, which ranks 6th at SMU

Courtland Sutton (#16, WR) - Biletnikoff Award Watch List
- 3-56 receiving with 1 TD
- Now has 7 TD receptions this season
- Has 3+ receptions in every game this season

Zach Wood (#90, DT) – Had 4 tackles, including a career high 3 TFLs and his first sack of the season (has 6.5 sacks for his career)

The SMU defense also held USF to well under 400yards of total offense.
