Saints not taking Morstead for granted

Postby PonyPride » Fri Oct 30, 2015 4:33 pm

Do the problems in the kicking game with the kickers make you have an appreciation for having such a reliable punter in Thomas Morstead?

“Absolutely. We made (one) kicking change so it is not multiple. I think there is a perception that it’s been a kicking carousel (here), and yet it’s probably more of the norm than the exception of the rule. You go back to when we signed (Garrett) Hartley, we struggled with the workouts and the various guys that were in, and then Garrett comes in and he is outstanding. To your point though, with Thomas, the consistency (has always been there). He’s been here and up until a few weeks back, he’s been healthy. (He’s) productive and one of the better punters in the league. He takes great care of himself. He prepares each week with all of the “what ifs” and sometimes, to the point where you are like OK Thomas, punt this ball. He’s an exceptional athlete, which is a good trait to have as a punter. Yes, you don’t ever take that for granted.”
