I was already imagining what it would have looked like if SMU hosted at Ford. Could we sell it out? I'd hope so, the stadium always looks great on tv when it's pretty packed.
Hopefully we'll see a completely new attitude towards SMU football in the next 5-10 years. Here's how it will go: 2006: SMU wins CUSA championship at Ford, beats Marshall 42-10. 2009: SMU wins 4th consecutive CUSA crown, no losses, plays in Cotton Bowl which is now part of the NCAA Bowl Playoff Series. 2010: Bennett signs contract extension worth 4.2 million/year. Mack Brown added to staff as head of recruitment. 2011: Ford Stadium grassy knoll is enclosed, now seats 45k. In other news, Notre Dame declares bankrupcy and closes its doors...forever. 2012: SMU wins 2nd National Championship, defeating TCU in the Rose Bowl, after already beating UGA in Sugar Bowl and UT in Cotton Bowl. 2014: New Super-SWC formed with Texas, aTm, TCU, Rice, Houston, OU, LSU, Arkansas, Tulane, UTEP, Ok State, and Tulsa. Baylor and Tech are cast off to the brand new Conferencia de Mexico, where they flounder for years. 2015: Ford Stadium expanded with an upper deck opposite the pressbox, seats 54k. 10 straight Bowl games, 8 wins. SMU defeats Florida in Sugar Bowl held at Superdome II. 2017: 100th anniversary of Mustang Band. Band now fields 130 brass/saxes, 10 drums. SMU signs a deal with Miss America contest, stating that the winner will serve as the band's "doll" the following year. 2018: SMU preseason #1. Outscores Super-SWC opponents 481-3, and wins all 3 bowl playoff games. At season's end, SMU is declared "Best team ever", sending all 16 seniors to the first round of the NFL draft. 2019: Jesus returns, but college football is continued in heaven "so God can see his Mustangs play."
