UT won 30 in a row, but Street only won 20 games at Austin.

That's 20 for Street, 34 for Lance.

Not really comparable. Two completely different offenses. Wishbone versus the Veer option. The Wishbone was to running offense what the Run and Shoot was to passing. Innovated and it took a while for defenses to catch up.

I would not trade anyone for Mcllheny in running the option and hope I did not give that impression. But realize we had some pretty good receivers during the PE days and we used them. The wishbone only uses one and he gets pretty lonely. But he also gets pretty open at times.

I'm probably too sensitive on this issue as I was a student during the PE years.

When I hear Pony Express = Dicker/James, I always correct people and say, 'it took someone to stir that drink and we had the best in Lance, all-time winningest SWC QB'

Again I agree as far as the best option QB I have ever seen. But at the outset of the Texas Wishbone it was basically unstoppable. Defense did catch up with it for the most part. At least other than us vs. Navy
