Sutton Named Freshman All-American

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been named to the USA TODAY Sports Freshman All-America Team, the news outlet announced today. Sutton was one of three wideouts chosen for the first team after leading all first-year receivers with nine receiving TDs.
A native of Brenham, Texas, and graduate of Brenham High School, Sutton set an SMU freshman record with 862 receiving yards and tied former SMU standout and current Denver Bronco Emmanuel Sanders for most touchdown receptions by a freshman with nine.
Sutton had three 100-yard games in 2015 and was named to the AAC Honor Roll after notching eight catches for 165 yards and two TDs against Tulsa.
