Next Years OLine

Postby pfan09 » Mon Dec 19, 2005 10:25 am

I have read some about the redshirts of the 05 year but have not seen anything about B Lankford. I know that they had him listed as a DTackle but heard he practiced as an OL guard all season. Also have not seen much abt M Enwrite (SP). Who, if any will travel next year. Any info on these RS fr would be appreciated.

Brad Lankford practiced at right guard this year. The scout team OL had Ross Nigh at LT, Josh Hickman at LG, Mitch Enright at C, Lankford at RG and David Allison at RT. Haven't seen a crew of true freshmen like that around here in years, probably since the 1980s. They were an extremely impressive bunch. Good size, and they look like they have decent technique. Of course, there were times when our first-string defense simply overmatched them .... that's to be expected when you're putting five freshmen together for the first time and asking them to simulate a different team's blocking scheme each week. I think 2 or 3 of those guys might turn out to be darn good. Which ones? That remains to be seen. Personally, I was most impressed at practice by Nigh and Lankford.

I met Mitch Enright and Brad Lankford at a road game, and they were both very classy, polite guys .... and they looked like they could suit up and play now. We haven't had freshman linemen built like that in a long time.

I appreciate the big guys being classy and polite. However, something about O-lineman that just makes me think they should be mean SOBs on and off the field!

Heh -- I agree that on the field, I want them to be slobbering animals who make opposing coaches ask for proof of rabies vaccinations. But off the field, these are two guys you'd be very proud to say represent your university. They're really great guys.

Who are thr 6 tackles that we have on the team. Give me at least 5 leaving two players at the other Oline spots.

If we do not have them now, lets sign some Juco help along with the Hutto Hippo and another HS. player to be named later.

Agreed, but I don't want to see a true freshman OL anywhere near the field. Add a JUCO and another HS lineman.
