SMU should probably start looking into expansion because once we win 11 in 2006 we will certainly see a HUGE increase in demand for tickets.
GO PONIES!
How can Ford be made to look anything remotely like that...UVA has a double deck around the entire stadium...and then they have grass seating at the other end...

I think Scott Stadium is a lot like Ford, just with a second deck.

I guess the similarity of the endzones being squared off and there being a grass berm on one side is strong. But if Ford is going to maintain a resemblence to Scott (not that that is a good or bad thing), how could it expand to 45,000? The only thing I could see doing that is adding a second deck, which would be hard because unlike Scott, Ford is boxed in by streets.

Well if its at 32,000 now, and you bowl the side adjacent to Mockingbird in completely as one poster says has already been laid out, thats probably 40,000 right there...and then add the luxury boxes and club seats all around the east end of the stadium and I'd assume you're about at 45, but then again I'm no architect.

Don't forget that the 'endzone' areas in Ford are unusually wide. I'd say that the 'endzone' area in almost 1/3 of the stadium, so that would be at least another 10k just for closing it in. Notice where the stadium ends is not directly behind the endzone.

I'd love to see Ford Stadium expanded if for no other reason than to stick it to Park Cities zoning laws.
But seriously, I think SMU could go undefeated the next two seasons and we'd be lucky to sell our our current seat count.
I mean, Tulsa was awesome this year, and the best they could pull was 25k.
I know Tulsa is a smaller town, but does anyone honestly believe there'd be a noticible and immediate difference?
Just my two cents.

Guys...get a grip. Let's start having winning seasons consistantly, win some bowl games and make people stand in long lines begging for tickets before we get all excited about expanding Ford. I would rather have Ford bulging at the seams to hold the crowds than build a bunch of new seats and not be able to fill the stadium.

Just realize that Insane Pony Posse has earned his name. If SMU were to improve to a team that warranted expansion it would be another 5 to 10 years of steady improvement before that would even be considered.

mrydel don't be such a defeatist!
you think if SMU "caught fire" and started winning 8, 9 games every year....going to bowls.... the students and many others would not come?
i think with the addition of the BLVD all we need is an exciting, winning team and the students and many others will fill Ford Stadium.
i agree mrydel it may not happen next year, but goodness gracious.... 10 years?....come on man......
i certainly hope we progress quicker than that!
