Hey we have another Freshman All-American in Henderson at Kick Returner who didn't even merit more than a handful -as in 4 or 5- offensive plays all year. Stunning. We blow redshirts on players we don't even intend play then throw 'em in a game-wait till they make a mistake-sit them down for 2-3 games-let em play 1-2 plays in the next game-then sit them again when they make a mistake. Maybe one reason this recruiting season is so bleak is the prospects for early playing time for freshman are minimal and the possibility of mishandling that early playing time is even greater. Don't tell me that this is a sign of an improved team-we had several places on offense where just about any top quality recruit could have raised our athletic skill level SUBSTANTIALLY. We sure as hell don't play in the Big 12 but UT played half its recruiting class last year.

I may be a little off on the numbers, but Arkansas played I believe 18 true/redshirt freshman at some point this year including starting running back who was named All-SEC and Freshman of the year and 1st team Freshman All American and also their year ending QB who has caused 2 other QBs to turn in request for transfers and the number 1 rated QB in the nation to pull his committment. SMU has not done a good job of maximizing the use of its talent.
Yada, yada, yada...This thread has been here for quite awhile now and you are just now coming up with something to [deleted] about on it? If I understand all your other rants, we don't have any top quality recruits and that is all UT gets...right? So what is so surprising about UT playing half of their recruiting class...they obviously are ready for D-1 playing time for having been top recruits. Our pitiful low rated recruits have to wait a year or two until they have matured and been brought up to speed being that they are not top rated recruits...right? I am really surprised that you haven't applied for a coaching position at some BCS school with all your apparent skill in evaluating high school players and making coaching decisions and such. ![]()
I'd like to repeat what Stallion said about how great it is for DeMyron Martin and Jessie Henderson to be named freshman All-Americans. Wait .... he had nothing to say about that, other than to complain. I'm sure I'll get over my shock on that one, but the special teams were better with Henderson back there than they would have been without Henderson back there. What would you have them do, bench Martin to play Henderson at RB? If Henderson is an All-America return specialist, then that's what he is. Personally, I agree with Stallion that he might be able to help on offense, too, but as long as Martin and Dorsey and Massey (and now Mapps?) are there, the backfield is crowded. Maybe he can be a very good slot receiver -- I hope he is. But if he's a freshman all-America kick returner, then that definitely is NOT blowing a year.
Congratulations, Jessie and DeMyron! Once a Mustang, ALWAYS a Mustang!
Enjoyed watching the DeMyron highlights during the Houston bowl. That was quite nice. They had a touchdown run and the catch against TCU.
