It was mentioned in the Baylor forum that this compares to what Arkansas did when Petrino was fired. It was a disaster. There never was the cohesiveness needed in a staff. These assistants know that there will be a new hire next year and they will be shopping their resumes more than drawing up schemes.

It will be interesting to see what happens but I think they should just go ahead and hire a new permanent coach now and know they are gong to bottom out this year.

You are probably going to have to pay someone pretty well just to go coach in that situation. Paying less goes not mean you are getting a coach with integrity. I don't know what message paying a low salary would send. Just get a good coach with integrity that is willing to coach in that situation and pay them what you need to pay them.

PR wise this is a good hire. Football wise I think this isn't going to work out so great. Baylor hasn't been historically great so it seems like they could lose momentum quickly in a situation like this.

It was pretty clear they would end up with someone who was out of coaching. Holding the fort until the NCAA finishes investigations.
