Not neccesarily. If we were public institutions the only thing that would be reported as revenue would be actual gate reciepts and donations that the athletic department generated themselves. Private schools, though, do not have to follow the same rules, so how these are accounted for can vary greatly. TCU is a good example, as Stallion noted yesterday they are stilling paying for entry into C-USA, but looking at their numbers you cant really tell where that is being expensed in. Also, I think part of their entry fee was forfieture of conference revenue for a couple of years, and that would also be affecting thier numbers for 2001-2002.
At TCU their program is in deficit, and the university has to cover it just like we do. They may be choosing not to call that athletic revenue, though, becuase its actually coming from somewhere else within the university. Its money that was already inside the university, not something that was newly earned.

Out of curiosity approximately what were our actual receipts from football (including I suppose Club seat revenues)?

Total were about 7-8 million, but that includes football, and mens and womens basketball. The other sports like soccer and swimming etc., almost put in some, but those were the big 3. I dont remember how it broke down by sport, sorry.

UNF, we lose money overall on every sport. Every sport runs a deficit. Including football.

East, I may have a slightly better answer for you here. The year in question was the first season at Ford, and I remember some specifics from that year from old conversations. These numbers are not direct from the athletic department, one of them will just be an estimate, but in round terms I think they are pretty close to accurate.

For that season, 9,000 season tickets sold at $150 each comes to $1.35 million

600 Club level seats at $475 each comes to $285,000.

22 Luxury boxes at $25,000 each would be another $550,000.

For 6 home games, approximately 50,000 walk up tickets sold at $20 each. This number is just an estimate, I'm basing it on our attendance numbers, but its hard to say exactly how many were actually sold and how many were given away. I think I am estimating on the high side, given the number of people who were in the stadium for each game. $1,000,00.

so, that would add up to $3.185 million in football ticket revenue for that season. The season ticket, club level and luxury box numbers I am fairly sure of. The walkup sales are only an estimate, but I think i am in the ballpark. Call it a margin of error of around $200,000, and that should be reasonable.

Oops, sorry. 2001 was the 2nd year in Ford. So, cut the season ticket numbers in half, trim a little off the walkup crowd, and you will get an approximate for 2001. The Club level and suites stayed close to the same.
