Westlake HS doesn't have a history of producing QBs that suck...which is kinda what you are implying. It's a pretty good bet that successful QBs there are future-NFL talent.

No other reported FBS or FCS offers on any of the recruiting services, as far as I can tell.

I don't have recruiting class side-by-side comparisons, but they have all done pretty well with similar recruits and put some major skins on the wall for their alumni.

Only Fuente took over a program that was a complete trainwreck and he didn't turn the corner until his 3rd season.

Do you think Tulsa, Navy, Memphis or Temple out-recruit us on a regular basis?

Good point re: Fuente. 4-8 and 3-9 in his first two seasons. Last game of his second season, his team got boatraced 45-10 by a 3-9 UConn squad. Did anyone think Chad Morris wasn't inheriting a program in need of a multiyear rebuild?

They out-recruited us for those last few JJ classes (the ones responsible for the dumpster fire that Morris took over).

Some did, of course those are the types that always overestimate us and underestimate our opponents.

Going into the season, I thought we had an outside shot at 6-6 and a bowl game, but the loss of Pursley at left tackle (one of approx. 2 decent OLs that JJ recruited that are still on the team) and Davis for the season shifted my expectations downward significantly.

Spot on sbsmith.

Also, HCCM is going to need 3 or 4 recruiting classes to get the team where it needs to be.
