I agree and wish we could get those fans. But right now, they would rather root for UT's top 10 football and top 10 basketball teams on television, rather than attend SMU events.
Heck, many of these bandwagon Texas fans could also be your casual SMU fan. It could certainly be possible to be a fan of both. We don't really compete against each other for anything.
Heck, even some actual real Texas fans could be your casual SMU fan - see LH68.
I'm not one bit upset that bandwagon fans exist in the metroplex, I'm just upset that we're not good enough (right now) to have them jump on our bandwagon.
Just some people think the best way for us to gain new fans is for the DFW newspapers and TV stations to completely balckout any sports coverage about schools other than SMU. Its easier to get fans when they have no other choice, than it is to actually earn them through winning.
