First, Craig James can afford to send his son to SMU if that's where his son wanted to go. His son has the choice to pretty much go to any school in the Country from a financial standpoint. A lot of players that fill holes that we need to fill can't pay their way here, so from a sort of wierd social justice point of view, it would not be a very good use of a scholarship for a guy whose dad is in the elite strata wealth-wise. Secondly, if he really wants to play baseball then he needed to go to a school with a baseball program. At least he didn't choose Froggieville (not that they offered him either). Third, he wasn't the type of player we need to win games. Sure, his dad might have mentioned that he was really doing well on the scout team, but that doesn't really build the program. Winning games builds the program and you do that with the best talent available. Craig has said as much. Let's get the best 90 players we can get and try and win some football games.

What about Stafford? If he lives in HP, I am sure his parents can afford out of state tuition at Georgia. I can't believe Ole Miss wasted a scholarship on that rich legacy kid, Eli Manning.

Craig James lives in Celina...which had this year's state champion football team, and has a great baseball team. I'm sure Adam is very talented. Best of luck at TX Tech. Its a shame he didn't choose SMU, but best of luck.

Hey, at least James' daughter chose SMU?!?!?!

As for Eli...thank goodness he chose Ole Miss. Cotton Bowl '03 sure was nice, and so was our share of the SEC West championship. Besides, by playing for Ole Miss his name was added to the big Manning Way sign on campus.... :)

did you actually just compare Eli Manning - a NUMBER ONE DRAFT PICK, and Mathew Stafford - the NUMBER ONE QB RECRUIT IN THE COUNTRY, to a 3-star recruit?!?!?!?!?
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

his son is a baseball player at heart.. he made the right decision for himself... yeah it would havebeen great for him to be on the hilltop, since his older sister is here, but craig expressed early on that he would not influence his son to go to SMU... love some of my fellow alumni. craig must be confused, is he bleeding burt orange? red and black? or mustang red and blue... ive got somwhere he can stick his longhorn

And at this point, Adam James and Matt Stafford have accomplished the same amount: nothing (at the college level). I think Adam James might have more state championships, but at the high school level, I couldn't possibly care less. And neither is going to play for SMU, so I really don't care. Good luck to each of them at Georgia and Texas Tech.

Nice. Good to know racism is accepted around here.

Your comment is AS RACIST as the comment itself. So far as I read
this thread, I see no acceptance on here.

For everybody else: Maybe the kid just doesn't like SMU for some
reason.
