There is nothing worse in the world than Texas Stadium in September the day after it rains. Ick.

Ford is a top-10 NCAA stadium and it is truly wonderul SMU has such a great place to play.

Once Phil Bennett returns SMU to national prominence we will be the envy of most Division I-A schools with our coach and stadium.

Bad. College football is meant to be played on campus, not in some billionaire's playhouse almost 20 miles away.

It's a shame that SMU didn't have the foresight (or $$$) to tear down Ownby prior to the days of the Pony Express to build a stadium that could have accomodated those crowds instead of going to Texas Stadium.

Let's just hope the day comes that either: 1) we see SRO crowds at Ford with students sitting on the grassy slope in the south end zone or 2) the bowl is completed and we are drawing crowds of 40,000 to Ford. Of course, someone is going to have to contribute $$$ to build another parking garage adjacent to the stadium. Is there even room over by Moody or could that be worked into the Mrs. Bairds property plans?

I doubt if the bowl will be completed in my lifetime.

If we could play TTech, Texas, and aTm as ooc home games every year, you'd get your wish of SRO crowds.

Something is underway near the old Mrs. Baird's plant. The dry cleaners, the liquor store and the pizza parlor on the southeast corner of Mockingbird and Airline have been vacated. The old Mrs. Baird's Thrift Store is being used as a leasing office for the new condo project going in at the old Hilton Inn on the southeast side of Mockingbird at Central Expressway. The old shoe repair shop on the southwest corner of Mockingbird at Central Expressway has also been vacated (I think). The only remaining business in operation near the old Mrs. Baird's plant is the 7-11. So...something is about to happen over there. Anybody know?

I wouldn't hold my breath. The 7-11 has been there for years. And most of the other buildings have been vacant for years. If SMU gets the W library, that is the probable site it will go on. Nothing will be done until that decision is made. Then there will be a period of fund raising for it.

The dry cleaners, liquor store and pizza parlor at the southeast corner of Airline & Mockingbird have only been vacated within the past couple of months.
