Quick update on Robert Richardson out of today's star telegram:
McKinney's Robert Richardson is set to embark on his first full season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Richardson, 23, who competed in three truck races last season, will contend for the Rookie of the Year award in the No. 1 Dodge.
Richardson, a former quarterback at McKinney High School and SMU, gave up football for racing in 2001 and started driving Legends cars.
He has quickly transitioned to the truck series, and the first race of the season will be at Daytona on Feb. 17. Richardson recently tested well at Daytona.
"Going into Daytona I have pretty high expectations," Richardson said. "Testing was great. I learned a lot as far as drafting goes."
