Cavan didnt recruit "LT"?

Postby Insane_Pony_Posse » Wed Feb 01, 2006 10:04 am

On The Ticket this morning it was stated that Eric Dickerson said that LaDainian Tomlinson said he would have seriously considered SMU but that "Stallion's Boy" Mike Cavan never recruited him!

hardly anybody did because nobody thought he was going to be eligible. TCU fans claim they "discovered" him proving that recruiting Top 100s doesn't matter. I personally saw him rated No. 20 in Texas as a Junior in a prominent list and yes he dropped as a senior because of eligiblility concern. I've even actually seen a couple of Frogs concede this but it is rare. So I guess its back to the Model rather than blaming the Coach again. I bet that was the point Eric was trying to make.

He wasn't. No one thought he would qualify academically. And as Stallion will tell you, TCU is still doing the same thing by getting commitments from quality athletes that qualify late.

I think Stallion answered the question. He had some academic issues that made him a non-qualifier on signing day. TCU took a risk and signed him hoping that he would qualify by August. He did and the rest as they say is history. Our model prohibited that type of signing.

That would have boosted the program if we had gotten him!

You need to stop making [deleted] up, particularly about the "qualifying" part.

You mean they never get around to qualifying at all?

that's why I corrected him and said he was a late qualier which he was. He played as a freshman.
