Re: Ponies at NFL CombineHicks about to find out just how good he had it with those 2 guys in the offense.
Re: Ponies at NFL CombineRidley is perceived to be the top WR in the draft, and I think he will slip significantly after that showing. That may cause all of the WR to slip. I suspect Ridley will go mid-to-late first now, and then once the second receiver is taken it will cause a run on receivers in the early second round.
The absurd times Sutton posted in the cone drill and shuttles, his attitude, his hands, and his blocking are going to put him late first, early second. If Ridley goes in the teens, I think Caroline or Jacksonville are possibilities towards the end of the first round. Both run-first teams that will appreciate Sutton's blocking abilities. Quinn didn't do anything flashy, but had solid times and showed great hands and route running. I think after the run on potentially explosive receivers in the early second, there is going to be another lull and Quinn will go with other possession slot WR in 3/4. When you compare his statistics at his taller/bigger size with Ryan Switzer, better hands, and better route running I think he compares favorably and will be a better NFL player. If you can pick him up in round 4 or later, it is a steal because he will start in the league for years.
Re: Ponies at NFL Combine
I think Hicks is better than some gave him credit for, but you don't just replace guys like Sutton and Quinn. Maybe some of these young guys become studs, but it will take time for them to develop while learning a new offense. Actually, there should be some similarities in the offense, but surely there will be some different terminology, etc.
