TP-
what's your point on Moats? Just because SMU didn't get him and because he was a Dallas kid that has now made the NFL that means SMU failed? Moats was undersized from a private HS and a good number say he is undersized for the NFL.

Dallas spins out plenty of players that are NFL caliber and some fit SMU's box, some don't. OU's made a killing in Austin, Tech has a pipeline to Dallas. UT took Dave Thomas out of Wolforth, just 15 minutes from the Tech campus. yeah, you'd like to have local kids play close to home to help fill the bleachers, but in the end, it doesn't really matter unless you're winning on the field. Remember, SMU got the McCown brother that actually made the NFL, not the one the Aggies had.

flatlander I am glad you asked..

seeing that you have been a member for only a month now..

You do not know this from lack of experience, but alot of posters on ponyfans always talk how a recruit is a 2 star and post how smu has the ## rated class in the country..
That pisses me off b/c there are guys like Moats who are not highly recruited and turn out to be pretty damn good football players..

Yes we did have Josh McCown and I played w/ josh at smu, he is a great QB on paper but he was horrible at smu.. he could not learn our offense (which i admit was complicated) but he is an nfl qb b/c he is big and strong and a great athlete.. he is not a great qb

They were even here last year when we beat TCU.. Greggo and Corby were there.. When i worked promotions at the ticket i did several games on the boulevard...
I love it when you are DEAD WRONG
.. especially when your caught w/ your foot in your mouth..

If you think SMU is well covered and marketed, you must be living in Goofy, TX. I also receive some satisfaction when Stallion is worng, but as a student I went to games where maybe 1,000 people were there. My parents once came down for parents weekend. We went to the Nevada game where Nate Burleson caught like 20 passes, I would say maybe 1,500 were there on PARENTS WEEKEND.

Ah yes; who among us oldtimers will ever forget that SI Swimsuit edition with Cheryl Teigs wearing that "mesh" swimsuit?

what's really hilarious about this whole argument is that people that have been around awhile remember articles and discussions noting that SMU oaches wanted to offer Moats but he did not pass through the SMU's admission maze before committing to Louisiana Tech. Moats was a marginal student who wanted to go to SMU-I bet it was GPA since he went to a reputable private school-who is one of the greatest examples that one could possibly find demonstrating exactly why SMU has sucked for 17 years. Next!
