Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AACHe definitely wasn't playing like it the last half of the season

Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AACAnd he may not be starting next year.
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AACIt is patently unfair to blame the last four games on Tanner.
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AACIt's great to have depth at QB. How many teams have that, especially with players so quick to jump into the transfer portal. Thanks to both Tanner and Preston for sticking with Coach Lashlee
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AAC
You're right. Too much background noise to blame a team member. It was somebody else.
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AAC
Who's blaming him completely for the losses? He definitely shares some of the blame. We had too many weapons on offense for us to go completely deer in the head lights the last half of the season. All his stats came against weak opponents. Yes even TCU was weak.
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AACGiven the relationship between Stone and Lashlee, you have to think that Preston has the inside track to the starting job. Unless Stone looks horrible, I see the QB competition as ceremonial with Preston getting the nod.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AAC
If this is a real possibility, it would be hard to bench Tanner after his breakthrough season. Maturity on all parties will not be easy. ![]() Pony Up
Re: Mordecai Best Returning QB in AACThe offense is going to have some significant differences compared to last year.
Much more RPO, with throws out to screens. Who is better at that? Not sure. Much more RPO with the QB keeping the ball. We saw some signs from TM last year that he could be really good with that, didn't use it early. We saw it used with PS when he saw game time. I think both are solid running QBs, not sure how much of a difference here. Much more throw the ball long. TM had great ratings last year, but the area of frustration was his ability to transition off of reads, as well as trusting the receivers to "throw them open". Lashlee is a better QB coach, which will improve his decision making, but I also think the differences in the offense will remove some of the challenges as well. I think you will se a significant step up in the TM decision process. That said, PS throws a fantastic deep ball, which is going to be an advantage in the Lashlee offense. I think it is going to be an outstanding QB competition. For what it's worth, I think the true frosh QB is going to be a great fit in the offense as well.
