I have not seen this posted,
CFN has us in the "Probable Also-Ran" category and at 90 overall. Last year they had us on the "Bottom 19" list and at 102 overall, so I guess you can say that is progress...

90. SMU 2005 Record: 5-6 Why to get excited: There’s finally a positive buzz about SMU football again after a solid 5-6 season with wins over TCU, Houston and UTEP. More importantly, the team was more competitive and turned into a tough opponent in Conference USA play. After a road trip to Texas Tech to start things off, the Mustangs get North Texas and Arkansas State to fatten up on. Why to be grouchy: It took a few years to get the quarterback situation figured out, and now both Jerad Romo and Tony Eckert are gone. SMU might have to deal with something it’s not used to: expectations. Teams aren’t going to look lightly on the Mustangs after last year. The number one thing to work on is: Generating more offense. The defense and timely turnovers helped SMU get through the season, but there wasn’t much in the way of consistent scoring from the offense. DeMyron Martin and the ground game will be the focus of the attack, but the passing game has to show up in a big hurry. Biggest offensive loss: QB Jerad Romo Biggest defensive loss: S Alvin Nnabuife

90 is WAAAAY too low. But, at that spot, it'll be more fun when SMU jumps up and bites people.

I'll take it, especially after past seasons of being in the 100s.

Of note, according to the bottom 19, we play four of the 19 in the bottom 19 (Tulean, Rice, North Texas, ASU).

I assume the Bottom 19 refers to Division I teams. However, based on the schedule and these preseason rankings, we have a chance to have a decent record. Not exactly a vigorous schedule but a chance to win for a change. That said, I don't place much weight in these preseason rankings. We have some strengths and some weaknesses and some unknowns. Next Sept will be the real test. Two of these alleged weaker teams are conference members. Not much one can do about that.

90?
Geez. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see us in a bowl in 2006 which would put us at least in the top 40.
Do these so-called experts even watch football?
